Characteristics

The boost converter, also called step-up converter, represents a simple and frequently used topology. The output voltage is always greater than the input voltage with the same polarity.

Possible sources of EMC interference are especially the output line as well as the node between diode, switching controller and power inductor, the so-called "hot node". The power inductor represents the elementary component of the power transmission. The power is usually in the range of a few watts.

Boost Simulation in REDEXPERT

Determine the ideal power inductor for your boost converter in a few seconds. Design a Sync or Non-Sync converter. Calculate the total AC & DC losses and thermal performance. Get the most efficient power inductor for your application.
