Characteristics

The schematically shown circuit section shows the basic structure for an AC Power Tool with a Power > 1kW, consisting of an AC filter to meet the required limits.

The main part is a rectifier, as well as a PFC stage (boost converter), a DC link, consisting of one or more parallel-connected capacitors and a full bridge for controlling the DC-motor. The PFC stage helps to regulate the DC link voltage and the input current to achieve phase alignment with the line voltage at the input. Further included features are i.a. an internal power supply
