Demonstration circuit 2530A is a 42V, 6A micropower synchronousstep-down second generation Silent Switcher®with spread spectrum frequency modulation featuringthe LT8640S. The demo board is designed for 5V outputfrom a 5.8V to 42V input. The wide input range allows avariety of input sources, such as automotive batteries andindustrial supplies. The LT8640S is a compact, ultralowemission, high efficiency, and high speed synchronousmonolithic step-down switching regulator. The integratedbypass capacitors optimize all the fast current loops andmake it easier to minimize EMI/EMC emissions by reducinglayout sensitivity. Selectable spread spectrum modecan further improve EMI/EMC performance. Ultralow quiescentcurrent in Burst Mode® operation achieves highefficiency at very light loads. Fast minimum on-time of30ns enables high VIN to low VOUT conversion at highfrequency.
