The MagI³C FIMM Fixed Isolated MicroModule series combines the features of an isolated power module with those of a classic MicroModule. It is realized in an LGA-7 housing and impresses with its miniaturized dimensions. The 1 W output power can be provided up to an ambient temperature of TA=100 °C without derating. Features like continuous short circuit protection (SCP) and dynamic power boost up to 300 mA for 500 ms ensures a robust performance for industrial applications. The module complies with EN55032 (CISPR-32) class B conducted and radiated emissions standard and requieres no external components for operation.

Compact, Efficient and Robust

Comparison of the WE-FIMM and a standard product in terms of conducted emissions and frequency

The FIMM module is particularly suitable for applications sensitive to supply interference, such as analog low-frequency circuits and relay-controlled circuits. The low para-sitic capacitance between the primary and secondary sides ensures a high degree of decoupling from high-frequency interference. Furthermore, this low parasitic capacitance mitigates common-mode interference propagation from the primary switching side to the secondary side of the converter.

Comparison of the WE-FIMM and a standard product in terms of coupling Capacity

Compared to regular, same-sized transformers, the FIMM feature less than 10% of the parasitic capacitance, as required by state-of-the-art isolated SMT power modules.

Size comparison of the WE-FIMM to a standard product

With its compact size the FIMM only needs 50 % of the space compared to conventional SMT-8 Modules. Combined with the functional isolation of 3000 V it is the perfect solution for space-constrained applications in the industrial sector providing galvanic isolated power supply.

Comparison between efficiency and output current

High and stable efficiency over the complete output current range. Due to its high efficiency of up to 91 % it supports a “cool design” and can therefore be used in an operating temperature range from -40 °C up to 100 °C without any derating. With the optimal temperature range for any industrial application and the integration of all core components it is reducing design effort and complexity to a minimum.

Comparison between nominal output power and ambient temperature of WE-FIMM

Derating curves with all possible operating modes. With the power boost feature additional current could be provided allowing the module to fulfil the demands in:

  • Unforcasted increases in load demands
  • Monotonic charging of capacitive loads
  • Backup power for momentary demands of the application
