Demand for consumer electronics products are steadily increasing. At the same time, a more robust and reliable power supply is a must. Adapter that can withstand high ESD voltages increases power supply reliability and robustness.This engineering report describes an isolated flyback adapter designed to provide a nominal output voltage of 12 V at 1.25 A load from a wide input voltage range of 90 VAC to 265 VAC. Design of this power supply can withstand ± 30 kV ESD. This adapter utilizes the INN3164C-H101 from the InnoSwitch3-CE family of ICs.
