This User’s Guide provides the schematic, artwork, and test setup necessary to evaluate Wolfspeed’s CRD22DD12N-J2, 22 kW Bi-Directional DC/DC converter for an electric vehicle (EV) on-board charger (OBC) and similar applications. Wolfspeed’s latest bottom-side cooled SiC MOSFETs – E3M0032120J2 (1200V, 32mΩ, TO263-7L package) are used in this design, which offers easier manufacturing and lower parasitic parameters. Insulated metal substrate (IMS) PCB is used for super thermal management. The design achieves high power density (9.4 kW/L), high peak efficiency (> 98.6%), and supports a wide battery voltage range from 200 VDC to 800 VDC.
