Description

This reference design is a compact, dual-channel output isolated gate driver board design for insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) in solar inverter, PCS, UPS and motor driver applications. The isolated bias power is implemented with fly-buck topology using TPS54308 which offers two-channel isolated outputs with 1500-V isolation while achieving good voltage regulation. The design is a single-layer PCB board for easy manufacturing.

  • Provides 8% output voltage regulation with a loose regulated 12-V power rail input
  • Each channel can support a maximum of two watts per IGBT
  • Each channel has split +15-V, -8-V power rails for the gate driver
  • Provides 1500-V isolation between primary and secondary as well as secondary 1 to secondary 2
  • Single-layer PCB for easy manufacturing
