Noise is omnipresent, but not always welcome. In electronics, unwanted noise from components is a common problem.
Electronic components can generate unwanted noises that are perceived as annoying. These noises, often known as coil whine, result from the conversion of electrical into mechanical and finally acoustic quantities. Magnetostriction, magnetic flux leakage, the natural resonance of materials and different operating modes of switching regulators can lead to audible noise.
This app note provides an insight into this phenomenon and possible solutions.
