Conducted emission measurements help to understand the power converter performance which can be improved by EMI input filters. In order to reduce conducted emissions significantly it is important to understand the total noise spectrum incl. the separation into common mode and differential mode. While running multiple FFT correlated with the time domain an oscilloscope like the R&S®RTO06 captures the noise results which enable optimized EMI input filters. Practical measurement examples demonstrate the iterative filter design process.
