Battery Management Systems
Stationary energy storage systems play a key role in the energy transition by storing excess electricity from renewable sources such as wind and solar energy, and releasing it when needed. At the same time, they help stabilize the grid by compensating for short-term fluctuations, thereby increasing supply security.
A reliable energy storage system depends on a Battery Management System (BMS). The BMS monitors the charging and discharging processes of the batteries in the storage, protects them from overcharging or deep discharge, and ensures battery safety while extending service life.
With the BMS-14/7 from Würth Elektronik ICS, we offer a solution designed for industrial lithium-based energy storage systems.
Developed for maximum safety and efficiency, our BMS monitors voltage, temperature, current, and state of charge in applications up to 1000 V (in future 1500 V). If any parameter deviates in a way that poses a risk, the BMS disconnects the battery modules – keeping your cells protected.
We provide a scalable and market-ready design, making it fast and easy to integrate our BMS into almost any energy storage system.
As your reliable partner, we deliver a fully tested, safety-certified, TÜV-approved, and cybersecurity-ready BMS – ensuring dependable performance from day one!

The BMS-14/7 is provided as a "system out of context" along with a safety manual. This enables the integrator to verify the system against the defined safety goals and to ensure compliant and safe integration into the overall system.
The system features reinforced isolation between the high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) domains, tested at 6 kV.
To test the BMS-14/7, you can order prototyping samples. These include the battery management controller with Ethernet interface and a cell monitoring board. Then you can use our example software to read out and control the BMS functions (NDA required).
The BMS-14/7 is fundamentally a ready-to-use product. However, it can also be customized to meet specific customer requirements. In particular, the cell monitoring board can be individually configured, for example in terms of mounting points, PCB shape or connectors.
Our battery management system is developed in Germany. Final assembly is also carried out in Germany — ensuring the highest quality, reliability, and short delivery times.
Our BMS-14/7 standardly supports the following communication interfaces:
The BMS-14/7 is delivered with a CE Declaration of Conformity, a user manual, a safety manual, and technical specifications.
