Wireless power transfer (WPT) technology is rapidly evolving as an alternative to existing electronics that use cables to supply power. The new Qi2.0 standard developed by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) and the Ki standard for the kitchen appliances, provide more opportunity for innovation. Near Field Communication (NFC) technology is extensively used with WPT to enable simultaneous power transfer and data communication between devices like smartphones and fitness tracker. This presentation will give an insight into recent trends in WPT and the synergy when combined with NFC.
