GaN brings benefits in power conversion thanks to lower parasitic capacitances, which allow reducing the losses and increasing the operating switching frequency. Depending on the topology, GaN technology can be used to obtain higher efficiency or to increase the power density, this reducing the size of the application. QR flyback with GaN switch gains both in efficiency and in power density, with respect to a similar solution with silicon. Additionally, a comparison between QR flyback with GaN and active clamp flyback with GaN will shown.
