Würth - Beginnings - Growth

How It All Began. The 1970s and 1980s

1971

Where are the future growth markets? In electronics! Reinhold Würth put this conviction into practice and in 1971 founded the Würth Elektronik division within Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG. After a detour into measuring device manufacturing, the new department specialized in the production of printed circuit boards for the electronics industry. Rooms are made available for Würth Elektronik in Bahnhofstrasse in Künzelsau.

1976

The entry in the Schwäbisch Hall Commercial Register lays the foundation for independent development.

1980

The new business grows and grows. The company premises in Künzelsau are bursting at the seams. A printed circuit board plant with a production area of 2,200 m² is built in nearby Niedernhall.

1984
Two additional divisions are established: Electromechanical assemblies and connection technology. A team of eight initially manufactures mainly backplanes for the telecommunications industry.

1987
The production area is expanded to 6,200 m². Meanwhile Würth Elektronik employs more than 120 people. In addition to the production of printed circuit boards, the divisions for electronic and electromechanical components and assemblies show ever greater potential.
