Into the New Millennium

2000

Würth Elektronik starts the new millennium with 660 employees and annual sales of 188 million D-Mark. The Electromechanical Assemblies division is renamed ICS (Intelligent Connecting Systems).

2001

eiSos® (EMC & Inductive Solutions) becomes a registered trademark. The electronic and electromechanical components business reaches the limits of its spatial capacities in Kupferzell. In March, ground is broken for a new sales and administration center in Waldenburg. This is followed in August by the establishment of Wurth Electronics, a distribution center in the USA.
Due to continuous growth, ICS adds a second location in neighboring Pfedelbach, where mainly high-volume orders are manufactured. In December, a sales office is established in France with its own technical development team.

2002

Würth Elektronik VBT becomes Würth Elektronik eiSos GmbH & Co. KG. The former plant managers Norbert Heckmann and Oliver Konz become managing directors of the now legally independent company. The company moves to the completely redesigned sales and administration building in Waldenburg. Finally there's room for further growth.

2003

In addition to the backplane business, the ICS division increasingly expands the product areas of central electronics and powerboards - the foundation for future growth is laid.
Meanwhile, PCB production grows through the acquisition of PPE in Schopfheim. Würth Elektronik now has the capacity and manufacturing expertise of four production plants in Germany with different technological orientations.

2004

Würth Elektronik eiSos consistently expands its product range, offering EMC components and inductors as well as transformers and RF components. More and more international subsidiaries are opened.

2005

Even more passive components: Würth Elektronik buys iBE Induktive Bauelemente GmbH in Thyrnau, which develops customer-specific rod core chokes and produces them in large quantities. This is important for business with automotive manufacturers, as the plant is ISO TS 16949 certified.

2006

Würth Elektronik eiSos expands its electromechanical division, developing and selling connection technology throughout Europe. At the company headquarters in Waldenburg, the warehouse extension creates four times the storage capacity, because availability and fast delivery are part of the brand essence.

2007

Würth Elektronik eiSos starts the new year with a special acquisition: The American transformer manufacturer Midcom Inc. from Watertown, South Dakota, is taken over - a leading manufacturer of customer-specific transformers for more than 30 years.
Success with central electrical systems for commercial vehicles: The ICS division is now established as Würth Elektronik ICS GmbH & Co. KG. also a legally independent company.

2008

Würth Elektronik Circuit Board Technology further expands its position as Germany's largest manufacturer of printed circuit boards: In Niedernhall, the production area is expanded by a further 4,230 m² to 10,322 m². In the sample and prototype plant Rot am See, an ultra-modern electroplating system is put into operation, and with the online shop WEdirekt, the PCB manufacturer offers the possibility to order PCBs in basic technology as well as SMT stencils easily and quickly online.
Würth Elektronik eiSos continues to expand its sales network and also relies on technical sales staff internationally.

2009

Despite the global economic and financial crisis, Würth Elektronik continues to invest in the expansion of its international sales network. With the development of transformers for energy-efficient switched-mode power supplies, Würth Elektronik focuses on future technologies. Customers appreciate the competence of the experts for passive components: The reference guide "Trilogy of Magnetics" is published in its fourth edition.
The expansion of the locations and production facilities also continues unabated. The approximately 5,700 m² extension to the PCB production facility in Niedernhall is completed; in Rot am See, among other things, a new clean room for laser exposers is built.
In the meantime, Würth Elektronik ICS is investing more heavily in the Electronics division. The product area Intelligent Control and Command Systems (ICCS) is founded.
