Industrial Ethernet has to be robust, reliable and with deterministic timings. This brings requirements to the system that are not visible at the first view. Namely EMC and EMI play an important role to make a system robust in a rugged industrial environment. New technology Single-Pair-Ethernet (SPE) brings much higher challenges into the hardware design than legacy interfaces. This requires careful measures during the design of schematic and layout, and brings interesting challenges during EMC/EMI testing. This session shows real life examples and measurements based on our learnings.
