Formula E season 2015/2016

The technology race begins

The FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) has presented an elaborate concept for the further development of its new Formula E, introduced in the 2014/2015 racing season.

In the inaugural season, all ten teams competed with the standard configuration Spark-Renault SRT_01E car. From the 2015/2016 season on, the teams will be given more leeway for individual customizations and in forthcoming years, further technological tuning will be successively allowed. As the idea behind this new Formula racing is as much about e-mobility as the sport itself, it includes a mechanism to ensure a mutual optimization process. All manufacturers registered for the 2015/2016 season are under obligation to sell, on request, their subsystems to rival teams at a capped fixed price. This has led to the unusual constellation of eight manufacturers but ten racing teams demonstrating the sportive aspect of e-mobility in
season two.
