What is Wirepas?

Wirepas Mesh is a de-centralized radio communication protocol for devices. The Wirepas Mesh protocol software can be used in any device, with most radio chipsets, and on any radio frequency band.

This innovative technology can be used to create large IoT networks, for example of battery-powered sensors, in which each participant also functions as a router. The mesh is self-healing and scalable as required. As part of an “early bird offer”, Explore our Thetis-I.

We present: Elara & Erinome

The new GNSS modules of the "Elara" and "Erinome"series are suitable for different application areas like tracking and navigation devices, container localization, fleet management or autonomous agricultural machines.

"Elara-II" is one of the smallest GNSS modules currently on the market. The modules are available with either integrated or external antenna and convince with their multi-GNSS function, high positioning accuracy (1.5 m) and fast acquisition (1 s hot start and 28 s cold start).

In addition to evaluation boards for the modules, we offer further design-in-tools such as the software tool WENSS.

One powerful hardware, two flexible 2.4 GHz radio applications

We present the Bluetooth Low Energy 5.1 module Proteus-III and the proprietary version Thyone-I. The modules, measuring only 8 × 12 × 2 mm, with integrated antenna, encryption technology and six configurable IO pins, are based on the Nordic Semiconductor nRF52840 chipset. They can be used for IoT and M2M applications, for example, to build radio-based maintenance interfaces and sensor networks. Our WE-ProWare firmware, which has been industrial proven over many years, makes the modules extremely versatile.

Proteus-III exploits the possibilities of the Bluetooth Low Energy 5.1 standard and even goes beyond them. With a payload of up to 964 bytes, the module offers four times the throughput of previous Bluetooth Low Energy modules. It can also establish connections in the newly introduced long range mode to transmit data over long distances.

Exceptional range

With the proprietary Thyone-I radio module, we show what is possible in the 2.4 GHz band: a range of up to 750 m and an end-to-end payload throughput of up to 400 kbps. A simple setup turns modules into repeaters in a mesh network, as required. WE-ProWare is an extremely versatile, easy-to-configure firmware with a lean and powerful radio protocol. If transmission standards are already specified in the application, Thyone-I can easily be converted to ZigBEE, Thread or Wirepas.

Monitoring & Control

Remote monitoring, remote control and wireless data collection have a great impact on businesses these days. Sensors can gather data from assets and business processes. A wireless sensor network consists of a multitude of autonomous devices with integrated sensors to monitor physical or environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, vibration or pollution. Each device/sensor node is linked up with the computing centre by means of radio data communication. Wireless-enabled sensor nodes can now easily be installed in spots where a wired system was not an option before such as in moving or rotating assets.

Automated Meter Reading

Automated Meter Reading is a technology for automated data collection from energy/water metering devices and others for billing and analyzing purposes. Standard systems divide themselves into two categories: fixed meter reading networks and drive-by/walk-by networks.

The benefits deriving from RF technology are tremendous. Companies save plenty of money due to enhanced speed of data reading and less chance of lacking data due to missing meter access.

Wireless M-Bus according to EN13757:4. This standard specifies the communication between water, gas, heat and electricity meters or concentrators and it is becoming widely accepted in Europe as a basis for new Smart Metering / Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) installations. In addition, there exist various specifications on top of the standard, such as the OMS (Open Metering System) in Germany that should ensure the interoperability of metering devices between multiple manufacturers. AMBER wireless is an active member of the OMS group, helping to create the specification.
