Beschreibung

AN11532SSL50x1 4 W to 25 W high-efficiency LED driverare especially defined to address the non-dimmable retrofit Solid-State Lighting (SSL)application market. The SSL50x1 platform is optimized for use in low-cost, high-efficiency buck driversolutions for high-voltage LED strings or LED modules. The buck converter is one of themost commonly used Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) topologies. This application note describes the general principles and considerations to beaddressed, when designing a low-ripple buck application with the SSL5021BTS or alow-THD buck application with the SSL5031BTS. The SSL50x1B drivers use on-timecontrol. They regulate the average output current. The SSL50x1B controllers operate inBoundary Conduction Mode (BCM). They use valley detection for efficient converter on/offswitching.Further information regarding design tools can be found on the www.Silergy.com productpage for the specific SSL50x1B IC or is available through your local sales office.Remark: All voltages unless otherwise specified are in V (DC).

Eigenschaften

The SSL50x1 ICs provide the following features:

  • Power-efficient boundary conduction mode of operation with:– No reverse recovery losses in freewheel diodes– Zero Current Switching (ZCS) for switch turn-on– Valley switching for higher efficiency– Minimum inductance value and size– Output current independent on inductor value
  • Average output current control
  • Compatible with wall switches with built-in standby indicator lights (Hotaru switch)
  • Driving LEDs directly from rectified mains:– SSL5021BTS for low output current ripple– SSL5031BTS for low THD a high power factor
  • Internal auto recovery protective functions:– UnderVoltage LockOut (UVLO)– Leading-Edge Blanking (LEB)– OverCurrent Protection (OCP)– Internal OverTemperature Protection (OTP)– Output open OverVoltage Protection (OVP)– Output Short Protection (OSP)– Overtemperature protection using a PTC resistor (NTC is possible with additionalcomponents)
