Wurth Electronics Midcom and NXP Semiconductors have partnered to release two LED lighting applications featuring TRIAC dimming and non-dimming benefits for residential, industrial and commercial uses.
The designs feature a Wurth Electronics Midcom inductor or transformer on the SSL210x drivers from NXP, which come in isolated flyback or non-isolated buck topologies. The design incorporates deep-dimming with built-in logarithmic dimming. Valley switching and demagnetization protection, along with temperature protection and safety protection if the winding is short, provide added safety for the application.
Featured on the PAR30 board is a Wurth Electronics Midcom inductor with input voltages of 120V or 230V with dimmable or non-dimmable operation. Both are small sized in an EP13 through-hole package with winding for Aux Power. They include low DC resistance, 1000 VAC isolation and are rated for an operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. Primary inductance for the 120V transformer is 180 µH and the 230V input inductance part is 270 µH. With a form factor of 2-inch diameter, this controller will fit most applications.
The PAR38 flyback is designed for long life, high-thermal stress and EMC compliance. Included on the board are a Wurth Electronics Midcom transformer and a common mode choke. The transformer has high energy storage in a compact design with low copper losses. The choke features high suppression of asymmetric interferences, even at low frequency ranges. Even with its small size, the choke provides the highest possible current. Both parts also have an operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.
